We are excited to announce that we are now offering AviClear™, the first and only FDA-cleared laser device for the treatment of mild to severe acne. This new treatment significantly eliminates acne and delivers long-lasting results in just three 30-minute sessions.

To understand how AviClear™ works, it’s important to understand how breakouts happen. Acne forms when sebum, the oily substance on your skin, combines with dead skin cells and clogs your pores. Most acne treatments target other things that cause acne, but not the production of sebum. The AviClear™ laser selectively targets the sebum-producing cells in the skin and downregulates their activity. Patients can achieve long-lasting improvement in their acne with just 3 AviClear™ treatments, spaced 1 month apart.

In clinical studies, 91% of patients responded to treatment and 80% saw at least half of their acne clear. The results may continue to improve with time – even several months after your treatment sessions are finished.

Unlike most traditional acne treatments AviClear™ is free of harmful side effects, free of chemicals, and safe for all skin types. In clinical studies, patients tolerated the treatment well, and with minimal discomfort.

After treatment, mild symptoms such as redness, inflammation, and transient acne flare-ups are normal but fade quickly. There is no "downtime" after the procedure and you can quickly resume your daily activities.

What is AviClear™ ?

AviClear™ is a laser that targets acne at the source. This revolutionary laser treatment uses a 1726nm wavelength to selectively target and downregulate the sebaceous glands. Overproduction of sebum by the sebaceous glands is one of the leading causes of acne.

When was AviClear™ cleared by the FDA?

AviClear™ was cleared by the FDA on March 24, 2022. It is the first and only energy-based device to receive the designation for the treatment of mild, moderate, and severe acne.

What were the results of the AviClear™ clinical trials?

In addition to reducing existing acne, clinical trials showed that future breakout episodes are shorter, less intense, and more infrequent following the AviClear™ procedure. In clinical studies, 80% saw at least half of their acne clear. 87% of patients report being “satisfied” or “very satisfied” at week 12. There were no significant adverse events observed in the clinical trials and all post-treatment effects were transient and self-resolving.

Is AviClear™ comfortable?

AviClear™ is equipped with exclusive AviCool™ sapphire skin cooling and sensory controls that maintain the skin’s temperature during treatment for a more comfortable experience. No pain mitigation was utilized or required by any clinical study participant, nor were there any reportable events observed during the clinical trials. Most patients who have been treated by Dr. Liu thus far have shared that the discomfort level ranged from 1-4 on a scale of 1-10 (1 = minimal to no discomfort).

How does AviClear™ feel?

During treatment, you may notice a slight snapping sensation. In general, patients tolerate the treatment well, without the need for pain mitigation or the need to stop the treatment session.

What areas can be treated with AviClear™?

AviClear™ is currently cleared to treat the face. However, it may soon be used to treat body acne as well.
